FULL PRESS RELEASE

First Dutch customer buys Canon printing system through Océ distribution channel

Combination of Canon printer hardware and Océ graphic arts knowledge to improve customer’s business

Amstelveen/Venlo, The Netherlands, 8 November 2010 - Canon and Océ today announced their first joint transaction with a Dutch customer. A Canon imagePRESS® C6000 printing system connected to Océ PRISMA® software was sold through the Océ distribution channel to Printservice Ede in the eastern Netherlands. The transaction follows on from sales in recent weeks of Canon printing systems through Océ distribution channels in the United States and Germany. It marks a major milestone in the cross-selling initiatives being undertaken by both companies in the current cooperation phase as they pave the way for full integration in the future.

Joint cross-selling offers customers integrated printing solutions

In March 2010, Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, became the majority shareholder of Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery. Since May 2010, initial steps have been taken in key markets to combine the product portfolio of both companies and provide an integrated offering to their customers. Canon products distributed through Océ channels are being sold under the Canon brand and include their imagePRESS C6000 and C7000 series and the imageRUNNER C5000 through C9000 PRO series. Océ products to be offered through the Canon channels will be sold later this year under the Océ brand and include the Océ VarioPrint® 6000 Ultra range.

Canon and Océ hardware/software combinations provide concrete benefits

Printservice Ede has been a long-time Océ customer and already has a broad installed base including Océ VarioPrint 6000 and 2100 printing systems as well as Océ solutions for its technical drawing and display graphics requirements. The company operates in the competitive Dutch commercial printing market and is always looking for new technology opportunities that help them add value to their customers' business. Printservice Ede noted Canon's acquisition of Océ with delight and it was not long before they decided on the best solution for their developing need for high-quality printing, in particular for brokers: Canon hardware and Océ software. The company can now handle different kinds of graphic applications at higher quality.

Proven record in commercial printing

"Océ Netherlands has a proven track record in commercial printing by thinking in terms of solutions, applications and possibilities," said Frank Huigen, Graphic Arts Director at Océ Netherlands in 's-Hertogenbosch. "We were well placed to help this entrepreneur develop and grow."

Best available commercial printing solution

"After seeing the Canon imagePRESS C6000 and its qualities such as sharpness, register and the broad range of different papers the system can handle, it was clear that in this segment this solution was the best available," said Jeroen Kruisweg, Canon's Channel Director Professional Print. "With this knowledge, the outstanding cooperation between the Canon Business Center and the Production Printing organizations of Canon Netherlands and Océ Netherlands did the rest."

"Working with Océ is doing business with professionals, sleeves rolled up, with both feet planted firmly on the ground," said Fred Feij, Managing Director of Printservice Ede. "When the wind is blowing in your face, you need to pedal faster. Having the right in-house equipment is essential. We have gone for the imagePRESS 6000 because it enables us to pedal even faster..."
