CHICAGO, 1 November 2011 – Océ, a Canon Group company and an international leader in digital document management, today announced that Global Sustainability TV will feature Océ in an upcoming program, which will air initially on The AMC Network at 8 AM EST on November 3, 2011. After reviewing Océ’s sustainability programs and a series of interviews, Océ was chosen to be featured on the show. Anton Schaaf, CT&OO and member of the Board of Executive Directors: “Our commitment to sustainability is a long tradition in our company. Our founding father investigated the quality of drinking water back in the 1870s. Our track record proves we are a leading company in our industry for innovative, sustainable solutions. We design our products and services with sustainability in mind.”

Filming took place at Océ corporate headquarters in the Netherlands and at the Océ German technology center. “For two months, we worked with a team of writers, producers and film crews to develop our story for the program. About Sustainability TV

Global Sustainability TV (http://www.globalsustainabilitytv.com) educates consumers and businesses about the efforts of both individuals and companies to improve the environment. The magazine-style format showcases real people, companies and organizations making a difference through sustainable practices, along with some of the newest and “greenest” technologies. Other companies that have been featured include Berkshire Hathaway, Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railway Company and Ingersoll Rand.

Additional Background on Océ Sustainability Efforts

Océ has a lengthy list of environmental credentials. Océ North America Production Printing Systems was among the first companies in the industry to introduce a comprehensive program to help customers implement earth-friendly practices. The Océ Eco Start program is designed as a first step to help companies achieve a reduction in the amount of carbon attributable to their production printing operations. When a company purchases an Océ production printing system, Océ will purchase trees to be planted to help offset CO2 emissions attributable to the energy used in operating the production printer. This is based on the expected use of the equipment over the first year of operation of the printer*.

Sustainability has been a defining philosophy of Océ from the start, and the company’s efforts are recognized around the world. Océ opened its first asset recovery plant in 1990 for remanufacturing end-of-life machines. Océ was one of the first RoHS-compliant companies. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), a requirement in Europe, controls use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.

Many Océ products have received certifications and awards. Océ VarioPrint® systems using Océ CopyPress technology produce virtually no ozone emissions, and their photoconductors contain no toxic elements. As an ENERGY STAR® partner, Océ is committed to products that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines for efficiency.
